Earthen Vessel

A cup overflowing with me and my humble personal poetry.
Cracked and broken, I'm remade on the wheel of time and change.

Tonight I Am a Poem

Tonight I am a poem, a brilliant flash of insight
beauty and sadness. purple and orange.
On the days I have headaches,
I'm merely prose, everyday words, everyday sights
I can be picked and dropped,
blue and white world edges
page numbered, remembered, forgotten
I am the everyday thought without thought
But tonight! Tonight, I am all that is elegant
in mind and vivid sights
I dance in the new star-lit sparkle
of reading eyes, not to be hushed at day's end

I am the duality of humanity,
all that is good and gorgeous and strong and vain
Yet, in the calm eye of the whirling rising
aspiring storm of greatness,
I am everything that is low, tearful and vulnerable,
open upon the knife of good intentions
I speak truth and lies, birth and death,
bound up in identity and found in time
A wine toast to mankind, loosening tongues
intentions, fears, and hopes
I glow in the depths of darkness
and outshine the sun,
Tonight, I am a poem of the rising and setting
I am all that is human and all that is poetry
